About Milton Rubber Surfacing

A Rubber Surfacing Contractor Based In Milton

Milton Rubber Surfacing is a local contractor that pours rubber surfacing over existing pool decks, patios, steps, garage floors, playgrounds, barn aisles and gym floors in Milton and Halton Hills. Poured rubber is our one trade, and it goes on top of whatever slab is there now. Nothing is demolished and nothing is hauled away.

The company works out of Milton and books jobs from Old Milton and Timberlea out to the new streets in Ford and Cobban, up the Escarpment to Campbellville and Moffat, and north to Georgetown and Acton. Every job we pour is fully insured from prep to cure.

About Milton Rubber Surfacing

How Long Rubber Surfacing Lasts Is Decided In The Prep

Poured rubber only bonds to concrete that is clean, dry, sound and bare. Sealer, paint, oil and dust all block the bond, so the first day of most jobs is a pressure wash or a diamond grind, followed by drying time. A slab that is still damp under the surface will lift the rubber within a season.

Cracks are sorted into two kinds. One kind is still opening, and it gets repaired first. The other is hairline or static, and the rubber surfacing simply flexes across it. On Milton's clay, where slabs shift every spring, that distinction is most of the job.

Two Granules And Two Binders Go Into Rubber Surfacing

Rubber surfacing is two ingredients, rubber granule and polyurethane binder, combined on site. EPDM granule is virgin rubber with colour running through the whole grain, and it holds up under sun, so it forms the visible top wherever colour shows, from playgrounds to patios to pool decks. SBR granule is ground-up recycled tires, black and less costly, and it forms the playground cushion or the entire floor in a gym or garage.

Two polyurethane binders exist, aromatic and aliphatic. Aromatic is the standard and holds up fine beneath dark colours. Aliphatic is pricier but will not amber in sun, so it goes under tans, greys and blues on a sunny Milton pool deck. Your quote names both the granule and the binder.

Where Milton Rubber Surfacing Works

Rubber surfacing jobs come to us from every part of the Town of Milton: the post-2000 subdivisions of Beaty, Clarke, Dempsey, Hawthorne Village, Willmott, Scott, Harrison and Boyne, the older streets around Bronte Street and Dorset Park, and the hamlets of Campbellville, Brookville and Moffat under Rattlesnake Point. We also pour in Georgetown, Acton and the rural parts of Halton Hills.

The work changes with the ground. In town the slabs sit on clay that heaves. Up on the Escarpment the barns and farm walkways sit on shallow rock and freeze hard. Both suit poured rubber, but the prep is different, and the quote says so.

How A Rubber Surfacing Price Is Arrived At

Square footage drives the rubber surfacing price, and we tape out those feet on site during the free visit rather than guessing from a photo. Thickness is the next factor: three-eighths of an inch on a patio and four inches on a playground are very different amounts of material. Colour adds cost when it means EPDM and an aliphatic binder. Prep adds cost when there is sealer to grind or cracks to repair.

The quote sets all of that out in writing with one total. In this region poured rubber over an existing surface commonly runs eight to sixteen dollars a square foot, and playgrounds fifteen to thirty or more.
